Scottish Classic SportS & Saloon Championship 2017


This popular Championship is for both mass production based cars and limited production run cars. It is split into 8 classes. Classes are generally for cars manufactured up until 31st December 1979 with cars in Class F for cars manufactured from 1st January 1980 to 31st December 1985, all subject to engine size and specification limits as per the regulations.

In 2017 the Championship will be contested over 14 rounds. Competitors race at 7 SMRC meetings at Knockhill. All rounds of the championship count.

NEW FOR 2017

Class C has been removed. Whilst in class F cars manufactured up until 31st December 1988 may race, provided they are to the same specification as cars built pre 31st December 1985 and were available as a model in 1984/85.

This Championship may be won by any car competing in Classes A,B,D,E,F,G.

Class A

Sports and Saloon Cars up to 1500 cc engines.

 

Class B

Sports and Saloon Cars 1501cc to 2500cc - engines, 2 valves per cylinder.

 

Class D

Sports and Saloon Cars 2501cc to 3600cc engines

 

Class E

Sports and Saloon Cars over 3601cc engines

CLASS F

Future Classics – Mass production Sports and Saloon Cars, manufactured between January 1st 1980 and December 31st 1985. Sportscars and  Saloons up to 3500cc, all with normally aspirated engines, two wheel drive only. Ford Fiesta XR2 MK2 to Scottish Fiesta Championship specification not permitted, but other variants of the model will be accepted. Standard bodywork, material and dimensions are mandatory.

CLASS G

Limited Production Cars, sports or saloons, specials, kit cars and recreations, with engine size over 1500cc. Only normally aspirated engines, fuel injection not permitted, period transmissions only, 2 wheel drive only.

   

Drivers must display the letter of the class A,B,D,E,F,G  they are entering next to their competition race numbers on their car.

The regulations allow cars manufactured from January 1st  1980 to December 31st 1982 to race in classes A,B,C,D, E  & G provided they are to the pre December 31st 1979 specification.

Knockhill SMRC Entry Fee

Entry fee for SMRC racing members is £260 per 2 rounds. See regulations for non members / guests fees.
 
All competitors racing in April to September meetings must register and pay the fee indicated in the 2017 regulations before entering. Only current racing members of SMRC may register for the Championship. 
 
Guests are permitted at 2 Knockhill SMRC meetings in 2017. These are at any one meeting from May to September and the October meeting. All guest cars must comply with the 2017 regulations. Guests do not score championship points.

7 race meetings at Knockhill circuit in Fife, with 2 rounds at every meeting.
