Championship Details

These pocket rockets are 1930s style cars originating in the USA. They use motorcycle engines and have rear wheel drive, sequential gearboxes, rolling starts and a grid drawn at random. It all means close exciting racing at every meeting.

News - BRIEF OUTLINE OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP

In 2017 this Championship will be contested over 9 rounds as set out in the calendar below.  All rounds count towards the Championship. The cars will race at 7 SMRC Knockhill race meetings . In April they go to Anglesey for 2 rounds.  The 9 rounds give Registered Competitors 27 races, as each round comprises of 3 races.

Each round is 3 races; Heat 1, Heat 2, Final.

This Championship has two points scoring categories, 'Individual' and 'Team'.

Drivers electing to compete as a 'Team' must each register with the SMRC Competition Secretary making it clear that it is a team registration. Racing as a team means that two or more drivers must share one car and it will be the 'car' that carries the race number. Drivers entering as a Team will not be eligible for individual driver awards in the Championship.

ROOKIES (New drivers to Legends); All drivers entering their first race having never previously raced a Legends Car competitively shall be classified as a 'Rookie' for that season and must start at the back of the grid for the first six (6) races. Rookies must also indicate their Rookie (Newcomer) status on the Registration form and on the entry form.

Gentleman / Lady Driver grid starts. These are drivers electing to start from the back 1/3rd of the grid during a championship round. Drivers in this category start after the registered championship contenders but ahead of Rookies with less than 6 starts and guests. They must indicate this preference on the entry form.

The Championship registration fee is £75.00 payable to the SMRC. Drivers must complete the  Championship registration form, return it to the Competition Secretary  and pay the fee before entering the Championship.

 

GUESTS

Guests may only enter two SMRC Knockhill meetings. These are any one meeting from May to September and the October Knockhill races. Entry Fees are in shown the regulations. Guests do not score points.

April 22nd/23rd Two championship rounds - 6 races.
