Scottish Saloon & Sports Cars Championship Details

The Championship for a really mixed variety of modified cars. The most powerful cars racing at SMRC meetings are found in this Championship.  There are 6 classes in the Championship and cars may race on slick racing tyres or treaded road based tyres, depending on their class rules. There is also a separate Cup competitions for Mazda MX5 Mk1 1600cc cars. The Cup class only scores points in their own competitions.

BRIEF OUTLINE

The Scottish Saloon and Sportscar Championship including the Scottish MX5 Cup and Scottish BMW Compact Cup will be contested over 16 rounds. These are at 7 SMRC Knockhill race meetings and one away round at Anglesey. Competitors must register with the SMRC using the Championship  Registration form, before entering the Championship or the Cup competitions.

The entry fee per meeting, for SMRC racing members at SMRC Knockhill meetings for two 12 lap races will be £255. Non SMRC Members £275.

Championship Classes

The Scottish Saloon & Sports Car Championship is for Competitors participating in cars in the following 6 classes (A1, A2, A3, B1, B2 , B3)

Class A1
Saloon & Sports Cars (using racing tyres) with four wheel drive and normally aspirated or turbo/super-charged engines. (Caterhams and Kit cars not eligible)

Class A2
Saloon & Sports Cars (using racing tyres) with two wheel drive and normally aspirated or turbo/super-charged engines. (Caterhams and Kit cars not eligible)

Class A3
Caterhams, Kit cars and motorcycle engined kit cars. Caterhams of any engine capacity (using racing tyres), Kit cars up to 3500cc. Normally aspirated engines only.

 

Class B1
Saloon & Sports Cars (using treaded road based tyres) including all engine types over 2001cc, and all Turbo / Super charged engines, and all 4wd cars.

Class B2
Caterhams and Kit cars over 1401cc and motorcycle engined kit cars and Caterhams of any engine capacity (using treaded tyres).

Class B3
Saloon & Sports Cars (using treaded road based tyres) with two wheel drive, including all engine types up to 2000cc (excluding all Turbo / Super charged engines, and 4wd cars). Fiesta 2.0 ST, Fiesta Si 1800 and Fiesta S cars running to 2014 SMRC Fiesta ST CUP regulations.     

Mazda MX5 Cup

The Scottish Mazda MX5 Cup is for Mk1 1600cc cars complying with 2015 BRSCC MX5 Championship regulations, with the exceptions listed in their regulations. They will compete for this trophy over 16 rounds. 

The Scottish Radical Cup will not be run in 2015.

Invitation / Guests: The Scottish Saloon & Sportscar Championship and Scottish Mazda MX5 Cup permits guests to enter without registering at the SMRC September and October Knockhill meetings, and at Anglesey meeting. All guests start on the grid where they qualify and do not score points. Invitations may be sent out by the Competition Secretary for the September and October Knockhill meeting.
