Getting Involved > Marshalling for the SMRC
SMRC meetings normally take place at Knockhill. Details for individual meetings vary, but marshals are generally required to sign on between 7:15 and 7:45am at the marshals' building beside Race Control. Sign-on times for the forthcoming meeting will be posted on the website approximately a week before the meeting takes place. The sign-on process allocates marshals to a discipline and a post on the track for the day. A briefing for all marshals is held at around 8:00am before everyone heads out to post, generally for 8:30am depending on if it is a Club or National event.
Lunch with a refreshment is provided for marshals at SMRC events and racing normally finishes between 5:00pm and 6:00pm however on occasion it may finish slightly later. Marshals should ensure that they are adequately prepared for a day trackside at the circuit, facing all weather with potential for extremely variable conditions.
To co-ordinate the SMRC marshalling force we have a Chief Marshal - Jim Redpath and Marshal Co-ordinator Jackie Spencer who would be happy to provide you with any further information should you require it. SMRC now have an online registration process for MSA licenced marshals to register their availability for race weekends. You can register your details as a Race Registration Marshal here https://register.smrc-uk.com
